Sophomore Year!

So excited for another year at Abilene Christian University! I have just completed my first week of school and can already tell it will be a challenging but good semester. 

I was really bad about blogging last year, but I am great at posting on Facebook as you all know. Hopefully I will update my blog more but for now Facebook is my place to go for updates. There will be an important blog post coming up in the next month that my family and I will need prayers for.

Anyways, I had a great first week back! I have committed to going to Pioneer Drive Baptist Church this year. It looks like we will have a bigger college group than last year which is great! I know a few of the older girls there, but it was great getting to know more people last Sunday. I hope to make more friends and church and be more involved. 

I declared my second major last semester. So I am double majoring in Business Management and Children's Ministry. 
I am taking Old Testament for Bible Majors, Intro to Family Studies, Greek 1, Macroeconomics, and Managerial Accounting.  Greek will be a challenging class but the teacher is very helpful and my classmates are really nice. 

It has been such a blessing to have my own room after my roommate situation last year. It's a little lonely sometimes, but it's definitely quiet for studying. My mom, dad, and brother are coming up this weekend to help me decorate my room and make it feel more like home. 

In the next two months I will be going to rushes and hopefully will get a bid to pledge GATA. Pledging is 5-6 weeks long. They are making it a little less stressful this year. Clubs are only allowed to have up to two events a week instead of having something almost everyday. 

Excited for a new year, a new start, and many new memories!

Bored...

I have been really busy!! I have a project or test in every class this week or next week. It has been pretty hectic. Also my car sunroof is stuck open, so I have to take that somewhere when I'm not in class. Luckily, I get to go home in 17 days!!!!!!!!! :)

Don't have any pictures to post really... This weekend I did have a fun break and got to go to the Freshman Follies performance! Each hall puts on an act and they have little speciality acts that people try out for in between. It was very entertaining and I'm glad I went. Wish I could have taken pictures so you would understand the randomness of it.

The other day I was finally able to sit down and write letters to the Sikoras and Finneys. Hope I can send them out tomorrow. Luckily, we can buy envelopes and stamps at the mail center on campus.

I have been having a good time at school despite the busy weeks. I volunteer at a Friendship House on Thursdays (4th-5th grade after school porgram) from 3-5pm, and that always brings me smiles.
I also go to the Gardner Hall Worship every Sunday night I don't have homework. I love it because it is a great start to my week. I also have a group of friends that I eat lunch with everyday and hangout with when I'm not doing homework.

I'm just bored sitting here. Not wanting to do homework haha. I guess I will get back to work. Hope I can post more interesting stuff soon!!! Just know that I am doing well!

Welcome Week and First (Few) Weeks of School!!

So I finally got a chance to sit and update my blog! This is my 3rd week of school now and I am loving it!  It can be stressful trying to make a routine since it is so different from high school. Practically all my homework is reading. That is all I do after class, read, and read, and Zzz.

Welcome Week was fun! We were put in our mentor groups, the people we will have in our Cornerstone class with all semester. We had chapel, mentor group time, and Group Olympics and other activities to partake in. Here are some pictures of the fun

These first few weeks have been good. I miss my church family and kids a lot, but I try to not think about. Instead I just talk about them a lot and share cute things they do and pictures... lots of pictures! My bulletin board will be covered after I get them all printed! I have made some good friends. I love my RA, she is pretty awesome! It has been great getting to know people.

 This past weekend my hall (Gardner 3rd East) participated in a mud fun run. I twisted my ankle, but walked the rest and finished with my team. Melissa and Nick (our mascot since he was the only guy) are seriously the best friends I could have right now. They stayed with me the rest of the run and Nick gave me a piggyback ride.Nick and Melissa are both super funny and sweet!! It has been great to getting to know them better. I have known Nick since middle school and Melissa since elementary school.

 

 

I can't wait to go home next weekend! I can't wait for the rest of the semester! Now as I close I had to add this picture of the sky, it was so beautiful.

Dorm Assignment!!

I got my dorm assignment last night! I'm in Gardner which is the best freshman dorm! The rooms and closets are just a little bigger than the other dorms. My roommate and I are going shopping for our dorm room after I get back from mission trip. I am getting more excited to go to college now. Finding out my dorm was a good distraction from thinking about everyone moving. I had a great week with the Finney's and Sikora's! I will have to post some of my favorite pictures later. I'm typing on my iPad and I don't have many pictures on it. College is getting closer! Which is exciting but also nerve wracking. Well I got to go pack for mission trip now. Can't wait to post about it!!
